About Hope Church

Hope Church, Bangor is part of the Salt & Light family of Churches.  We are a lively, family church with a relaxed, informal and contemporary style, keen to work with other churches in Bangor to reach the people of Bangor with the truth, life and hope of the Christian gospel.

Sunday morning worship in Ysgol Friars

A group of about 20 of us planted Hope Church from Caernarfon Pentecostal Church in September 2003.  We originally met weekly in Cae Top School, Upper Bangor but now with a congregation of over 60 have outgrowth the hall and have started meeting in Ysgol Friars at 10.30am on Sundays.  We have five cell groups which continue to grow and incorporate most of the regular members of our congregation.

We have a varied congregation, with families, students and children all worshipping alongside one another.  We also have a variety of nationalities represented including Welsh, English, Irish and Patagonian.

Why not come along and join us!

Vision & Values
Our Vision

We are a lively, family church with a relaxed, informal and contemporary style.  We summarise our shared vision as TRUTH - LIFE - HOPE.

TRUTH - The truth about God is found in the Bible, and became a visible reality in the person of Jesus Christ.  We want to know more of this truth: to learn more about what the Bible says, and to get to know Jesus through developing a deeper relationship with him.

LIFE - knowing the truth is not enough: knowing it should lead to living  it!  We want our lives to be transformed and shaped more and more each day by experiencing the reality of God's life in us, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

HOPE - the truth and life we have received through Jesus give us an amazing hope, both now and for the future.  It also gives us an exciting mission to bring the same hope to others.  We want to see as many people as possible finding new hope in Jesus, and themselves becoming bringers of hope to others... and so on!

Our Values

Hope Church doesn't belong to an established denomination, but we are part of the Salt & Light family of churches which shares the following values:

  • The Word of God, worship and prayer as foundational to our life in Christ.
  • The Church as the Body of Christ with every member playing its part.
  • Relationship as the heart of how we are called to build together
  • The Holy Spirit's ministry in the life and worship of the believer and the Church.
  • Cell Groups as central to building up the Body of Christ.
  • Personal Pastoring as a key to care, accountability and discipleship resulting in personal maturity in Christ.
  • Mission as God's people living as salt and light in God's world.
  • The Kingdom of God as a dynamic reality among us and as the first priority of our lives.
