Charity
At Hope Church we support various charities. We want to show God’s love
by helping others. We do this because the bible says:
‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and
you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me
in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked
after
me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Matthew 25: 35-36 (NIV)
‘Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is
this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep
oneself from being polluted by the world.’ – James 1:27 (NIV)
Here is a bit about some of the charities that we support: |

‘Every day, Toybox is offering hope to hundreds of street children and
children at high risk in Latin America, helping them to fulfil their
dreams.’ There are many street children in Latin America as
a result of poverty, violence and economic turmoil. Toybox works
towards a brighter future for them by providing education, loving
foster homes, help and friendship and much more.
Current Campaigns/Issues
• Red Alert - The Red Alert project in Cochabamba
in Bolivia involves making contact with the child who has just arrived
onto the street, to try and give them other options than street life,
as
soon as possible BEFORE they start having a street lifestyle. www.toybox.org.uk/red_alert.html
• Rescue from the streets - Teams
search out the most vulnerable children, seeking those in most need.
They offer friendship, food and first aid. www.toybox.org.uk/rescue.html

Practical ways that you can
help
|
• Encourage persecuted
Christians by writing to them. It means so much to know that someone
from another country cares for them and is praying for them. Download
your copy at www.csw.org.uk/writetothepersecuted
• Why not put your loose change in a jar (for example
those pennies that you find down the back of the sofa) and it give it
to a charity of your choice at the end of the year.
• Choose a charity whose work you find interesting
and inspiring and sign up to receive their newsletters but if you’re
not sure which one then. If you would like to be more involved in
praying for a charity and in raising awareness but don’t know which one
to support then let us know and we’ll help you.
If you know of any charities and campaigns that you think we should
know about and support then contact info@hopechurchbangor.org and
let us know
