40 Days of Prayer Fasting and Action

As a church, we are taking on 40 days of prayer and fasting.
To find out what the topics are each week check here or pick up the newssheet on your chair at the Sunday meeting.

In return, we would love to hear what God is saying to you, what it is that you're doing during this 40 days, or what encouragements you have for others.
To let us know please jot it down in the book at the Sunday meetings or e-mail carolyn@hopechurchbangor.org and we'll publish everything here.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.”
(Luke 4:18-19)

Weekly prayer topics

Week 6:  16th -  22 March

Church Leadership and those serving the church

·     Church life is at its best when every member is involved (1 Corinth 12:12-21).  Please pray that Hope Church will be a church like this and prayerfully consider how you could get involved where you are not.

·     Praise God for every person He has blessed the church with and that they fill the roles He made them for.

·     But a church also requires leadership. (Heb 13:17).  Praise God for Bryony and Kevin and all the work they do in leading Hope.  Pray for them for strength, wisdom, patience and continued enthusiasm.

·     Pray also for the leadership of Salt & Light (the family of churches we are part of) and in particular for Andy Barclay-Watt and Nick Matthews from SMCF who are actively involved in supporting Hope Church.

Toybox

Toybox is a charity which works with children in Latin America, who are living on the streets, hoping to turn their lives around for the better.

·     Praise God for Toybox's new office and ask that he will bless them in this move.

·     Praise God for all the work that so many committed staff accross latin America do.

·     Pray for children supported by the charity in Guatemala; a country described as 'a paradise for organised crime'.  Pray for the International Commission against impunity in Guatemala, and for peace in the futures of the children in the country.

·     Pray for Valle Homoso (beautiful Valley) in Bolivia which is a new home set up for orphaned or abandoned children.  Pray that children's lives will be turned around for the better.

Action

·          Have you every considered sponsoring a child?  Toybox give a fantastic opportunity to do this. Check out the website (www.toybox.org) for more on this and other praying/giving/fundraising challenges.

Why not pick someone in the church (in leadership or another role) who you believe could really benefit from extra prayer and support in their role and commit to pray for them regularly for the next week/month/year.

Action:

-     If you have passed ‘a college age’ maybe you can re-connect with some of your college friends and share about your present life. This would be especially amazing if you did not know the Lord at that time yet, how great news you would have to share!

-     Have a look at the OM web site prayfully and wait on God and let him work in your heart in the ways he wants to.

-     Make contact with the missionaries you used to support or be in touch with. Maybe you could send them something as simple as a postcard and tell them that you are praying for them (and don’t forget to pray either!). If you don’t know any missionaries have a look at the missions organisations web sites and look for missionaries’ profiles and get in touch with one!

Words that people have shared at Prayer Meetings and in Church

12.02.07
During these 40 days many people will lay to rest things they don't feel free from or things that hang over them.  God will free them/deliver them from these things.  Other people will see breakthrough in areas they've been praying about but are yet to see breakthrough in.  Others will begin to see new fruit produced in their lives and the church itself will begin to bare new fruit powerfully.

17.02.07
"Prepare yourselves to go deeper into God.  Individually prepare yourselves and as a church prepare yourselves.  I, the Lord, am coming in great power and annointing.  Make sure you're ready.  This is not it, you have barely touched the surface of what I am going to do.  Prepare yourselves, be ready for I am coming, prepare yourselves in holiness and purity.  Now is the time to go deeper in me.  Prepare yourselves."

Don't forget regular prayer opportunities over the next 40 days.

Prayer meetings every Sunday morning at 9.30am at Ysgol Friars.

Prayer Walking at 9am
Tuesdays from SU
Wednesdays from the Friddoedd Rd/Belmont Rd Junction
